The result
A 25.76 kWp commercial solar installation designed to increase on-site generation for a mixed farming business already using solar power.
The new system is estimated to generate 22,742 kWh a year, deliver an approximate £5,232 financial benefit in year one and achieve a four-year payback.

The client’s objective
The client was already familiar with solar energy, with an existing approximately 11 kW array connected at the site.
Despite that existing generation, annual electricity consumption remained around 50,000 kWh. The objective was therefore to increase the amount of electricity generated on site and reduce the farm’s ongoing grid electricity costs.
Phase Energy also helped source finance for the project.
The Phase Energy solution
We designed a further 25.76 kWp commercial solar PV system using 56 AIKO Neostar 460W panels.
The panels were installed across the available south-facing sheet-metal roof, making maximum practical use of the roof area selected for the project.
The new installation supplements the solar generation already available at the site, increasing the proportion of the farm’s electricity requirements that can be met from on-site renewable generation.
Why the system was designed this way
The south-facing farm building provided the most suitable available roof area for the additional solar installation.
The system was sized around the maximum number of panels that could practically be accommodated on that roof.
As the client already had an existing solar array, this project was about increasing total on-site generation rather than starting from scratch.

Installation
The installation was completed in one day.
No significant site or installation challenges were recorded, allowing the project to proceed smoothly.

The high estimated level of on-site use reflects the farm’s substantial electricity demand, allowing much of the additional solar generation to be consumed directly rather than exported.
These are proposal-stage estimates rather than guarantees. Actual performance will depend on weather, site electricity consumption and energy tariffs.
Finance
Finance for the installation was sourced through Phase Energy.
